Bio:
Seong-Hyok (Sean) Kim is a Senior Research Fellow and Vice President at LG Electronics, where he leads innovation at the intersection of sensing technologies, AI, and user experience. With over 15 years of industry experience, Sean is a recognized expert in sensors and MEMS, driving the development of next-generation sensing solutions across smartphones, wearables, healthcare, automotive, and smart home products.
As a sensing solution architect and technical strategist, Sean spearheads LG’s sensor and emerging technology roadmaps, integrating open innovation strategies and collaborating across disciplines with internal teams and strategic partners. His leadership has been instrumental in delivering industry-first products, including always-on sensors, camera-assisting TOF sensors, advanced biometric and healthcare sensors, and AI-enhanced sensing systems in LG’s flagship devices and appliances.
Sean has overseen the development of groundbreaking technologies such as palm-vein recognition in the LG G8, FDA-approved mobile health apps, and automotive-grade PM sensors. Currently, he leads a team of over 100 engineers in LG’s AI Lab, focusing on AI-powered ambient computing and smart home solutions—introducing world-first innovations like AI IR sensors for dryers, mmWave radar for air conditioners, and AI-defined multi-sensing air purifiers.
His work continues to shape the future of intelligent environments and human-centric technology across both B2C and B2B sectors.
